We are actively helping people to reduce their energy bills and making their homes a more comfortable environment to enjoy. The most prominent Government backed energy efficiency scheme available is ECO.
What is ECO?
The Energy Companies Obligation (ECO) is a Government scheme that provides different groups of householders with access to subsidised energy saving measures. The scheme is funded by major Energy Companies who have been obligated to provide funding for heating and insulation improvements. Its primary aim is to cut the UKs carbon footprint and to help vulnerable householders reduce their fuel bills.
Homeowners that either claim qualifying state benefits or live in properties with insufficient levels of insulation, can get ECO grants towards a range domestic energy saving upgrades.
The two elements of ECO explained
CARBON EMISSIONS REDUCTION OBLIGATION (CERO)
Through the Carbon Emissions Reduction Obligation (CERO), energy companies provide funding for wall and roof insulation measures and connection to district heating as primary measures and other secondary energy efficiency measures where a primary measure is installed. The CERO is available to all households in any housing tenure that can receive qualifying measures.
HOME HEATING COST REDUCTION OBLIGATION (HHCRO)
Under the Home Heating Cost Reduction Obligation (HHCRO), energy companies provide insulation and heating improvements to qualifying low-income and vulnerable households in private rented or owner-occupied properties (social housing tenants are not eligible for HHCRO). There are complex eligibility criteria for this scheme, based on income, receipt of benefits and status of the household.
